Tree Service in Aquinnah & Gay Head, MA
Aquinnah is salt-pruned scrub oak, cedar and stunted pine on the most exposed land on Martha's Vineyard. We handle removals, storm work and selective view pruning out to the cliffs, and we check both town and tribal review before quoting anything.
The most exposed ground on the island, and the longest drive to reach it. Trees in Aquinnah grow low, hard and one-sided, shaped by salt and a wind that never really stops. What fails here usually fails at the root plate after a wet week, not in the crown.
We schedule Aquinnah work in blocks rather than single visits, because the travel time is real and we would rather it did not end up on your estimate.
What fails in Aquinnah
- Scrub oak, low and dense, wind-shaped and often one-sided
- Eastern red cedar on the moraine, salt-tolerant but shallow-rooted
- Pitch pine stunted by exposure, prone to root-plate failure
- Shadbush and beach plum in the coastal scrub, worth protecting during access
Much of Aquinnah sits inside a District of Critical Planning Concern, and the coastal banks around the cliffs are among the most tightly protected land on the island. Work on or adjoining tribal land goes through the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) as well as the town conservation commission. Nothing here is quoted before that is confirmed.
What we do in Aquinnah

What this involvesHazardous Removal
We remove trees that cannot safely stay: over houses, across power drops, on lifted root plates, and after storms. Nothing is felled; the tree comes down…
What this involvesVista Pruning
We open water views by selective pruning rather than topping: windowing and limb removal in the sightline, so the woods still look like woods and the…
