William Heath, Certified Arborist
The arborist who writes the estimate is the one who climbs the tree.
William is the certified arborist behind Windward. He trains the crew, sets the standard every job is cut to, and on most jobs walks the site and does the climbing himself. There is no sales layer between you and the people who end up in your tree.
Every cut is made to the ANSI A300 pruning standard. That is why Windward will not top a tree, and why an estimate sometimes comes back saying an oak needs cabling and a re-inspection in two years rather than removal, even though that is the smaller invoice.
On this island it matters more than it sounds. Pitch pine and black oak mostly fail at the root plate, after a wet week and a hard nor’easter, rather than in the canopy. Reading that correctly is local knowledge; it does not transfer off a mainland crew, and it does not happen from a photograph.
Every job starts with one of our arborists standing under the tree, and on most of them that is William. The estimate is free, it is fixed, and it comes from what was found there.
